“Is that new silk?” in Thai is mài-mǎi-mái (ไหม่ไหมไม่). While we’re at it, “small iron” is lèk lék (เหล็กฌล็ก) and “leather movie” – for fetish-film viewers – is nǎng nǎng (หนังหนํง).
